Recalling bonhomie with KKG: Saritha Varma

I have been a recipient of Dr KK George’s warmth and affection, while participating in innumerable development seminars, that he hosted in Kochi. I recall his bonhomie with gratitude.

His most remarkable feature as a brainstorming anchor was that he was not stuck in the prison of any political clique or mutually -back-patting mens’ club. He was as much, sharp-eyed on the slightest shift of numbers in public finance, as in running a gentle eye over the talent pool around him.

Although he never used rough words, KKG had been unable to hide his queasiness, about the super-slow pace with which academic wisdom was getting absorbed into government policy.

The civic society will, in the coming days, sorely miss this gentleman academician for his quiet, but relentless dynamism. (One may be quiet, one may be relentless, one may be dynamic, but rarely, all three together.).

Adieu and thanks for the rare warmth that you leave behind, KKG.  Peace.
