CSES, as part of its study for the Social Justice Department, on the psycho-social needs and rehabilitation of women prisoners, ex-prisoners and probationers in Keralam, organised a consultative workshop on 10.09.2026 at Thiruvananthapuram, jointly with the Directorate of Social Justice. The workshop brought together diverse stakeholders with direct experience and expertise in the domain, including officials from the Social Justice Department and Kerala Prisons and Correctional Services, legal experts, lawyers, academicians, and mental health professionals, on a common platform. The deliberations were vital for gaining a deeper understanding of the complex challenges faced by women in conflict with the law and their psycho-social needs, while also drawing lessons from effective rehabilitation models in India and abroad. The insights generated from this multi-stakeholder engagement will be instrumental in shaping comprehensive policy recommendations for the effective rehabilitation and reintegration of these women.
