All the members of the GIFT community are extremely saddened by the untimely demise of Professor K K George, who has been much close to their hearts. A member of the extended family of Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation (GIFT) and an acclaimed scholar of public finance, Prof. George has immensely contributed towards our understanding on the fiscal implications of Kerala’s development experience. In a condolence meeting, held in GIFT, different members of the Institute reflected vividly on his contribution to the state of Kerala in general and in the establishment and growth of GIFT in particular. Many of them shared their font memories of association with Prof. George. It was generally said that Prof. George’s contribution as a renowned economist, much appreciated mentor of scholars and an institution builder will be remembered for ever. Being a most friendly, affable and unassuming person, Prof. George will remain in the hearts of the members of the GIFT community.
