Workshops / Seminars

In keeping with the Centre's mission, we have conducted numerous workshops and conferences. We consider these seminars as an opportunity to disseminate and share our learning and research findings among the wider community of scholars, policy makers, and civil society actors; as well as an opportunity to establish relationships between the Centre and other organisations. Some of the workshops/conferences organised under the centre's aegis are as follows:

  • A Series of seven Sectoral Workshops and a National Conference with the focal theme of Education in Kerala's Development was organised in different parts of Kerala by CSES in association with the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS), New Delhi and UNICEF. The following state level workshops and national conference were conducted:

    1. Workshop on Literacy and Non-formal Education Movements in Kerala held at Calicut in July 2000.
    2. Workshop on Pre-primary Education in Kerala held at Kannur in August 2000.
    3. Workshop on Primary Education in Kerala held at Kannur in August 2000.
    4. Workshop on Secondary Education in Kerala held at Thrissur in September 2000.
    5. Workshop on Higher Education in Kerala held at Kochi in October 2000.
    6. Workshop on Professional Education in Kerala held at Kochi in November 2000.
    7. Workshop on Major Issues in Education viz. financing of education, access to poor and marginalised communities, gender issues in education, improving the quality of education at all levels, value orientation in education etc. held at Kottayam in December 2000.
    8. Three day National Conference on "Education in Kerala's Development.: Towards a New Agenda" held at Thiruvananthapuram during December 26-28, 2000. Prof. Amartya Sen, Nobel Laureate was the Guest of Honour at the National Conference.
  • A two day National seminar on Curricular Reforms for Quality Elementary Education at Thiruvananthapuram, December 10 & 11, 2001 in association with UNICEF.
  • A two day Seminar on "Education in Kerala: Issues in Access and Quality" organised in association with Kerala Research Programme on Local Level Development. (KRPLLD)
  • 'International Conference on Climate Change and Environment' (Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT),Kochi, Kerala, 22 - 24 September 2010) in association with National Institute of Science Communication And Information Resources (NISCAIR), Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU),Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), IRTC, UNESCO, SAARC Documentation Centre (SDC)and Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
