Workshops and National Conference on Education in Kerala’s Development: Towards a New Agenda

This series of interactive platforms began in 2000 with the organisation of a Series of seven state level Workshops and a National Conference with the focal theme of Education in Kerala’s Development: Towards a New Agenda. It was organised in different parts of Kerala jointly by CSES, Institute of Social Sciences (ISS), New Delhi and UNICEF. The following were the state level workshops:

Workshop on Literacy and Non-formal Education Movements in Kerala held at Calicut in July 2000.

Workshop on Pre-primary Education in Kerala held at Kannur in August 2000.

Workshop on Primary Education in Kerala held at Kannur in August 2000.

Workshop on Secondary Education in Kerala held at Thrissur in September 2000.

Workshop on Higher Education in Kerala held at Kochi in October 2000.

Workshop on Professional Education in Kerala held at Kochi in November 2000.

Workshop on Major Issues in Education viz. financing, access, gender, quality, value orientation, etc. held at Kottayam in December 2000.A concluding three-day National Conference on Education in Kerala’s Development: Towards a New Agenda, was held at· Thiruvananthapuram during December 26-28, 2000. Professor Amartya Sen, Nobel Laureate was the Guest of Honour at the National Conference. The Chief Minsiter of Kerala sr. E.K.Nayanar, leader of opposition in the state assembly Sri. A.K.Antony, education ministers of four states and delegates from different parts of India and neighbouring countries participated in the national conference. To view the pictures of the events.
