The paper finds that existence of several factors in the state- high wage rates, availability of year round employment, fast economic growth, decline in young domestic workforce, better educational outcomes, fast pace of urbanisation, rural-urban continuum – helps to overcome the friction of physical, linguistic and cultural distance between the states of origin of migrant labourers and Kerala.
